Veterans History Project app

App Allows Users to Collect Veterans’ Oral Histories

The Veterans History Project App continues to preserve American Veteran’s stories, with users adding new oral histories to the Library of Congress archives on a continual basis.

The most recent interview is with Louis Nachbauer, 90, of Rock Island, IL. A Merchant Marine from 1945-48, Nachbauer’s interview recalls his service during World War II, 1939-1945.

The Veterans History Project of the American Folklife Center was created in 2000 by the U.S. Congress. The project was boosted in 2016 with the creation of the Veteran’s History Project App, which eliminates barriers to success by allowing interviewees to use smartphones and other digital media to record, complete and submit interviews to the Library of Congress.
